Sadat City industrial zone
Looking at the most vital strategic locations in Egypt’s geography, the Delta cradles the Nile and is the country’s main source of resources, and to some extent a source for parts of the Middle East and the wider world. Looking more closely at the most strategic and most active locations in the region across many sectors, we arrive at… Sadat City.
Sadat City’s geographical location
Sadat City lies north-west of Cairo at kilometre 93 of the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road. It is bordered to the south by Giza Governorate; to the west by Beheira Governorate (Wadi El Natrun district and city) on the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road; to the north by Beheira Governorate (Badr district); and to the east by Menoufia Governorate (Menouf and Ashmoun districts).
Sadat City’s area and varied landscape
Sadat City covers around 121,368 feddans (500 km²). Its built-up area totals 18 km², divided into 34 residential districts housing around 600,000 people in 30 fully or partly populated districts. It also has 7 industrial zones, which we discuss in detail below. The city is surrounded by a green belt of 30,000 feddans.
Sadat City’s ranking
The World Health Organization ranked Sadat City among the top 10 industrial communities in the Middle East thanks to its diverse resources and industries and its success in keeping emissions in balance and the environment clean. Despite the many industries in the city, Sadat City maintains the lowest carbon emission levels among industrial cities in Egypt and the Middle East. This is due to the city’s engineered layout and the distribution of industrial facilities according to sector, emission levels and wind direction.
How Sadat City’s location affects the quality of its output
Sadat City sits at the centre of many cities and governorates, between the Delta governorates and cities, the North Coast governorates, and Cairo and its suburbs.
It has a strong, direct and well-connected road network that the state continually develops and equips with the many services that roads and their users need, such as security, road preparation, fuel supply, emergency maintenance, ambulance units and rest stops.
This has created a high-quality environment for every industry, ensuring raw materials keep their quality until they arrive, and that containers travel quickly and safely to and from the city thanks to safe, secure transport routes.
Manufacturers in Sadat City
Sadat City welcomes manufacturers and keeps them. It can meet all their needs and resource requirements and facilitate their legal, logistical and environmental services.
Recently, the state has made larger areas available for all activities and offered them for sale, usufruct and allocation to existing industrial owners to support their expansion.
It has also allocated vast areas of land for integrated industrial cities for the following industries:
– Chemicals
– Food (the Silo Foods complex)
– Spinning and weaving
Alongside this are major investment partnerships, such as the largest agri-food industrial complex in the Middle East, built on 154,000 m² in the developers’ zone of Sadat City, with total investment of up to US$300 million. The partners are MAFI for agricultural processing, owned by businessman Ahmed Abou Hashima; JBT, a leading provider of technology solutions to the food sector; and GEA Middle East, which specialises in supplying food processing technology.
Sadat City also offers small manufacturers able to own land and industrial units a range of solutions and spaces suited to their activities and size, as part of its plan to boost Egyptian exports, bring in more foreign currency and break into global markets with high-quality products.
