Qena Drinking Water and Sanitation Company
Qena Drinking Water and Sanitation Company is a state-owned company responsible for providing water and sanitation services in Qena Governorate. It manages and maintains the water distribution networks and wastewater treatment, and works to improve drinking water and sanitation infrastructure in order to achieve environmental sustainability and meet citizens’ needs.
The company’s main objectives
- Providing clean drinking water: the company aims to ensure that safe, clean drinking water reaches every resident of the governorate, in line with health standards.
- Safe wastewater management: the company’s responsibilities include treating wastewater safely to protect the environment and prevent pollution.
- Infrastructure development: the company works to modernise and expand water and sanitation networks to meet the community’s growing needs and contribute to local development.
It was established under Law No. 203 of 1991 to manage, develop, operate and maintain drinking water and sanitation systems in Egypt.
The company was founded to address the challenges of providing safe drinking water and treating wastewater sustainably, particularly in the face of a growing population. Since its establishment, it has continued to modernise and expand its infrastructure and introduce new technology to increase efficiency and improve the quality of services delivered to the people of Qena Governorate.
In recent years, the company has also focused on raising its quality and occupational safety standards, which qualified it to obtain international certifications such as ISO 45001:2018.
